Dr Laberge joined the Department of Health Services Research, Management and Policy in August 2015. She completed her PhD in health services research at the University of Toronto, in Canada.  Her thesis examined three aspects of the performance of primary care in Ontario: effectiveness, costs and efficiency. Her research interests include health economics, performance measurement, health care systems and primary care, and vulnerable patients. Dr Laberge also has extensive professional experience in health care policy with the Health Council of Canada and with provincial (Ontario Ministry of Health and Long Term Care) and federal (Health Canada) governments in Canada. Most of her policy work has focused around the evaluation of specific policies and in the analysis of health care systems performance including international comparisons and assessing achievements against commitments made by governments. She also worked with community-based organizations in Canada and internationally in the areas of performance management, strategic planning, accountability, quality improvement and health promotion. Her experience in working with Ontario Community Health Centres gave her a good understanding of the importance of determinants of health and the needs and barriers that vulnerable populations may face in accessing health care services and in maintaining their health. In addition, Dr. Laberge’s holds a Master’s degree in health administration and a B.Sc. in biomedical sciences, both from the Université de Montréal (Québec).
