Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
The University of Florida Health Science Center (HSC) is committed to protecting the confidentiality of health information, whether it is maintained or distributed in hard copy (e.g., paper files), electronic, video, verbal or oral form, and persons in the HSC with access to such health information shall be required to maintain its confidentiality. This statement includes, but is not limited to, the University of Florida HSC employees, volunteers, students, physicians, resident physicians, and third parties.
All new and returning students in the Department of Health Services Research, Management and Policy must complete the following in order to be in compliance with HIPAA:
- 1. Confidentiality statement at privacy.health.ufl.edu, and
- 2. HIPAA & Privacy General Awareness Training for new students and for returning students at http://privacy.health.ufl.edu.
All new and returning students must submit a hard copy of both the confidentiality statement and the HIPAA & Privacy General Awareness Training certificate to Mrs. Juanita Cooper, Room 4151, HPNP.
Note that students must complete these requirements for every year that they are enrolled in one of the department of Health Services Research, Management and Policy's academic programs. Further, students who are not in compliance with these requirements by the end of the second week of the fall semester will be dropped from all classes.
