About Lee Revere

Lee Revere is Professor and Florida Blue Endowed Chair, Health Services Research, Management and Policy, at the College of Public Health and Health Professions. She has a background in industrial engineering, 10+ years of managerial experience, and over 30 years as an academic researcher. Her research is focused on the improving the efficiency and effectiveness of healthcare, lean six sigma and quality improvement, and the effects of payment structures on utilization and cost. She has been the principal investigator on numerous grants totaling over $5.6M in funding and published over 50 journal articles in a variety of healthcare, quality and business journals. Before earning a doctorate in Public Health, she held positions in quality and managed healthcare with SunHealth Alliance, Christus Health System, Humana Health Plans, and HealthHelp Networks. In this capacity, she trained clinicians and healthcare leaders, facilitated comparative utilization and benchmarking projects, aggregated and analyzed clinical quality data, and spearheaded statewide managed care contracts. She left industry to pursue an academic career to integrate academic rigor with management practice. She received a Bachelor of Industrial Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1992, a Master of Science in Healthcare Administration from Trinity University in 1997 and a Ph.D. in Public Health from the University of South Florida in 2002. After graduation from Georgia Tech, Dr. Revere worked as a consultant for SunHealth Enterprises, a consortium of 300 + hospitals. Later she joined Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word as a data analyst for clinical quality reporting. In 1993, Dr. Revere joined Humana Health Plans of Texas as their Director of Member Services. In 1997, Dr. Revere became the Executive Director for HealthHelp Networks, a state-wide radiology network serving over 125 radiology practices. Dr. Revere left HelpHealth Networks to pursue an academic career in healthcare. In 2000, Dr. Revere joined the University of Houston Clear Lake where she assumed the position of Faculty Chair and Program Director for Healthcare Administration in 2011. In 2013 she left UHCL to join the University of Texas School of Public Health as the program director. In 2021, she Dr. Revere joined the University of Florida faculty as the department chair for HSRMP.
