I am in my first year of the PhD Program in Public Health with a concentration in Health Services Research. I have worked in the field of maternal and child health for the past 20 years, with a majority of it working on fetal and infant morbidity and mortality. My research interests are to look at health policy and government health systems that impact pregnant and postpartum women, their infants and families.

I have a Masters in Public Health, with graduate certificates in Epidemiology and Health Management & Policy and my Bachelor in Science is in Animal Physiology & Neuroscience. I have worked as a community leader in public health and human services serving in roles such as Program Director, Coordinator, consultant and grant writer.

A public health enthusiast, pursuing a Ph.D. in Health Services Research Management and Policy at the University of Florida. With a Master’s degree in Public Health specializing in Social Epidemiology and a Bachelor’s degree in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery, I offer a unique multidisciplinary perspective to the field of Healthcare and Public Health. My research interests are primary health care focused on promoting health and wellness to prevent NCDs; Physician-patient relationships; Quality of care; Nutrition; Maternal and Newborn Health; and Maternal and Child Nutrition. My goal is to advocate sustainable evidence-based intervention and inform future policy decisions. My professional experience includes program implementation and research in rural/ remote areas of India. This work has covered critical areas such as maternal and newborn health, National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS), National Nutrition Mission (NNM), and prevention and management of non-communicable diseases (NCDs). Additionally, I am proficient in five languages- English, Hindi, Maithili, Punjabi, and Marathi. I am enthusiastic about sharing insights and contributing to Healthcare and Public Health. My areas of interest revolve around inequalities in women’s health and how they impact women’s economic opportunities – this is related to the field of reproductive health justice.
