About Nicole M Marlow
Dr. Marlow joined the Department of Health Services Research, Management and Policy in 2014. She received her Ph.D. in Health and Rehabilitation Science, Health Services Concentration, from the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) in May 2013, and she also holds an M.S.P.H. in Epidemiology from the University of South Carolina (2005). Her personal research interests include access to care issues for persons with functional limitations and disabilities, including effective patient-provider communication. She is the Sub-Contract Director of the Florida Disability and Health Program, funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Prior to joining UF, and while completing her doctoral training, Dr. Marlow worked as a Research Associate at MUSC in the Department of Public Health Sciences, forming collaborations with researchers in Dental Medicine, Healthcare Leadership and Management, Kidney Transplantation, Psychiatry, and Physical Therapy. She worked as a Co-Investigator on externally funded grants with NCRR, NIGMS, NIDCR, NCMHD, Abbott Laboratories, and AbbVie Inc. One of her primary roles while at MUSC was with the Biostatistics Core of the Center for Oral Health Research (NIGMS and NCRR COBRE awarded), managing and completing all CTSA requests for biostatistics services related to dental health sciences for grant development, faculty research, postdoctoral dental resident thesis research, and dental student research. During 2005-2008, Dr. Marlow worked as an epidemiologist with the Health Services Research Division of the American Cancer Society, evaluating patterns of care, disparities, and clinical outcomes for cancer patients using a national, hospital-based cancer registry (the National Cancer Database).
